A little foreword: I'm sure my students reading this can totally relate. Although in their case, what we tell them to do is the reason for their madness. Hey guys, hindi lang kayo ang praning pag endsem na, ano? Clarify ko lang. Kami rin! Sino pa bang magchecheck ng mga exam ninyo at mga sinubmit ninyo? Di ba kami din? -- not that i'm complaining, okay? Wink, wink. (Si Mam, sabay bawi.) Plus... you don't have the monopoly on procrastination. Parepareho lang tayong procrastinators. Hehehe...
It’s that time of the year again when I’m so swamped with work that I can’t imagine life after my deadlines. Not that I have this every year. Last year at this time, I was taking my sweet time through the sunny streets of California with my cousins, without a care in the world. That, however, was ages and a whole world ago! I better get back to reality now before I lose track of time again…
Reality being the following things I need to finish this week: (1) the exams I need to check, (2) final projects and term papers I need to read and grade, (3) the peer evaluation sheets I need to record for the groups in my classes, (4) the mp3’s from ate abbie I need to listen to for the convention worship line-up, (5) the research paper for Beijing that I need to submit on April 1 but I haven’t even started to write yet, and—I almost forgot!! drats—(6) the grades for the graduate students at UP ITTC I have to submit TODAY… aaaarrrrgggggh.
Not that I’m blaming anything for this pile-up of work. As always, it’s my own procrastination that led me to this state. I should be used to it by now, di ba? But noooooo. As always also, I need to grunt about it.
Julia Fordham sings in my head: “Where does the time go?” Curtis Stigers sings back: Does anyone know?” Please somebody answer this for me! If I can only get some of that lost time back, I think I can manage to work through each of those deadlines without going nuts…
But I can only hope and see if I'm still sane by next week. By that time I hope I’m done with most everything in that list and can talk here about the “pleasanter” things in life like movie reviews, new books, and Metro Manila weather--which is mighty fine these last days, I just have to say... so au revoir, people! See you next week!

...days hath september, april, june and november said a poem i remember from grade school... and 30 years hath me! :D celebrated my day by attending a bidding conference for 15 deskops at UP (what fun!! >:-p), taking the MRT, and "partying" at home with my family and my cats. I originally planned to slump in front of the TV all day last Monday watching the pre-show, live show, and post-show Oscar coverage. But since I had to go to UP to attend the meeting at 130pm, I wasnt able to watch it till Monday night. Puro cut pa courtesy of commercial-happy RPN Network (pagbigyan na natin, minsan lang kasi sige magrate ng ganun kadami). I didnt have mycar pa that day kasi coding so I took the MRT and an FX home... buti na lang sinamahan ako ni Nats. Ok lang na yun na lang gift mo sa kin... pero kung bibigyan mo pa din ako ng madaming books, mas OK, hehehe! By the way, thanks to everyone who greeted me in person, via mobile, and through the Internet!
cafe bola interiors at greenbelt. i first came upon cafe bola in 2000 nung nasa araneta pa. it wasn't a very popular restaurant although those who knew of it are always sure to be regulars. one branch pa lang at hindi pa masyadong hyped up sila nun like now. although by then, cool na yung interiors ng resto sa may coliseum, much like this one. i also remember the menu items were also creative na then. case in point: adobo flakes with kesong puti on rice, parma-ham flavored munggo with dilis on rice, etc. i had the adobo flakes 6 years ago and medyo matabang yun nun so i played safe today and had the parmesan cream pasta with bacon. hindi ako nagkamali... yum! reasonably priced ang food. plus, as a bonus, they have exotic drinks like starapple and chico shake. meron pang mga south beach specials for those who are more conscious of their food (hah, tapos na ko sa phase na yan, been there, done that.). medyo unusual ang ibang menu items, pero masarap pa din. by the way i think it's owned by the owner of cibo and pepato.
