First trip out of Angers was at Omaha Beach in Caen FR to look at the WWII memorials, the American Cemetery and the creepier German cemetery. Interesting observation: the American cemetery was proud and grandiose albeit sober (not unlike the one in the Philippines), the German cemetery looked as if it was ashamed of itself. I don't know if someone somewhere in the past had shame in mind when they designed the German cemetery, when they decided which stones to use for the structures and walkways. It could very well be there was no such intent at all. Maybe my observation came only as a result of the horrendous movies and creepy walk-through museum we went to just before we came to the German cemetery.
the american cemetery. it was quiet but you can almost taste the "pride" in the air.
this piano at the peace museum in caen creeped me out
the german cemetery felt alone and forgotten. i also felt it preferred it that way.
me walking down to omaha beach. man it was cold! creepy and cold! good thing i wore red to brighten up the view a bit.
