Keeping It Cool On Father's Day

Bought my dad's gift for Father's Day today... was browsing through the new CDs at Tower Records when what else do I see but a DVD of Frank Sinatra with, of all accompanists... BUDDY RICH! This guy is a legendary drummer and everyone from Phil Collins to Carter Beauford (Dave Matthews Band) to Vinnie Colaiuta point to him when asked about inspiration.

Boyohboy I can almost imagine the look on my dad's face when he sees this. I can also already see the countless nights he will play this DVD over and over and over in the living room. And then he'll ask me to make an audio CD of the same so he can play the drums to it over and over and over... but that's ok because thank God my mom's ears are already used to my dad's drumming.

my dad's drums... with his one and only "groupie" waiting for him: our dog Lester
